Response to Course Material
Well in class we have literally just been doing Hamlet for what seems like months now. It is different than any I have ever read and it is much different than the other Shakespeare I have read. My main problem is that I had a really hard time understanding what they were saying in the play while reading it. I was happy to watch the movie because it really helped me understand what was going on, but I hated how the first movie was done compared the second movie. I thought that the second movie was better because the acting and the scenes were way better done. Annotating Hamlet took FOREVER, it is just such a long play with so much to comment on, I honestly didn't think I would ever finish it!
I'm getting pretty worried about the final for this class, it seems like it is going to be all terms and that terms test was quite difficult the first time…so we shall see how it goes. I feel like i'm going to have to study a lot but I guess it will be good in preparation for the AP exam.
I think that is about it! I look forward to discussing Hamlet tomorrow in class! :)

I definitely had problems understanding what was going on in Hamlet since the language is so confusing and there are almomst no stage directions. The movies helped me to see what was going on and also the different interpretations of the play. I think maybe for this post, you could elaborate more and talk about some of the other stuff that we have done in class. For example, when you talk about Hamlet, you could mention some of the different interpretations and talk more about the differences in the films. You could also talk about some of the other stuff we have done in class, such as the mood/atmosphere practices or the forums.
ReplyDeleteI liked the second movie a lot more too. It made me reflect on whether or not I agreed with the directorial decisions. I agree with Natalie that you should elaborate more on things that we have done in class. Try talking about the characters, how you interpret them, and some interesting plot points. For example, whether or not Hamlet is gay, how innocent Ophelia is, etc.
ReplyDeleteHi Marie!
ReplyDeleteI also liked the second movie more. Even though it was more dramatic, I liked seeing the flashback scenes and the beauty of the castle. The interpretation of the second movie matched mine so it was cool to see what I had envisioned on the screen.
As for mentioning more class work, I also agree with Haley and Natalie. I liked seeing how you approached Hamlet, so seeing your reaction to things like the forums would be nice to see as well.
