Response to Course Material

To be honest, I don't know how throughly I can answer this prompt because of all the school I missed but I will try.  Watching Death of a Salesman was quite an experience. I have not watched a play/movie that was so confusing but so fun to watch at the same time. The movie made no sense to me until we discussed it later on which was when I caught on to all the deeper meanings in the movie that I did not catch while watching. I had to finish the movie on my own and obviously found the ending sad but inevitable. I'm glad we watched the movie before reading the book, I feel like it will help when I do the close reading.
Unfortunately, I do not know what we did in class this entire week so don't have much else to say. But I can say that I feel like I have learned a lot so far in this class. I love in the morning when we do those poem analysis things, and we have to write our own as a class. It keeps everyone involved and although I know it has educational value, I especially like how in my class especially it seems to unite us which I love in an English class because it is so much easier to discuss when you feel comfortable with your class.

  1. Hey Marie (Deja vu Peer Revising your blog ;) )
First off, I'm sorry you have been sick this past week, but I am sure your AP family will get you caught up soon! :D

About this post, I was in the same boat the first time we watched DoS, but the discussions really helped. It seems everyone picks up on something different and with (a lot of) help from Ms. Holmes we can sew the pieces together. The second "watch" of the play was so strange because all I could think was... HOW DID I MISS THAT? haha
And yes, I feel that the pre-class warm ups do bring the class together (glad I am not the only one!)

I hope you are feeling better :D

  2. Hey Marie,

I thought the watching the movie after we read the play really helped me to understand what the deeper meanings that were first missed. I found the class discussions to be greatly beneficial because of the different views people contribute. It was interesting to see how much more I understood the play after watching the movie twice and reading in through!

  3. Death of a Salesman was an experience. It seems like American Literature had seen it before and had some basis on what it was about. This film was alien to me, and it surprised me. Willy especially was very confusing. His regressions were the main confusing factor, as the director made a seamless transition to them as if they were happing in logical progression. And as the others said, we hope you get caught up soon. It's no fun to be behind, especially in an AP class. And by your writing, your class will help you get back to speed.
